Kurt Calleja est né le 5 mai 1989. Après 4 années de formation sous la houlette de Brian Cefai, célèbre coach et également fondateur de la chorale Amadeus Chamber Choir qu'il dirige, Kurt fait le pari d'aller à Londres pendant une année.

Il s’est alors produit dans des clubs célèbres comme «Tiger» et «Tiger and host».

De retour à Malte, il a débuté comme choriste dans une émission de télévision et a finalement décroché un solo sur une autre station de télévision.

En 2010, il participe pour la première fois au Malta Song for Europe, espérant décrocher un billet pour Oslo avec Priscilla Psaila. Leur chanson «Waterfall» s’est classée 12ème.

L’an dernier, Kurt se présente seul cette fois à la sélection avec «Over and Over», titre qu’il a écrit avec la complicité du suédois Johan Jämtberg. La chanson a terminé troisième du classement.

Devant le succès obtenu, Kurt sort le single le 16 mars 2011.

Ce n'est que le début de l'aventure du jeune artiste de 23 ans, qui va enfin pouvoir monter sur la scène du Concours Eurovision avec la chanson "This is the night"
